The Animal Welfare Association of Chaidari-Egaleo entitled “The Fighters of the Streets” was founded in May 2022 according to the No. 171/2022 Recognition Order of the Athens Magistrate’s Court. It is a non-profit association and its activities are supported exclusively by volunteers.
Its purposes are the following:
- The protection of animals, stray and not, the development of zoophilia and the effort to find ways for the harmonious coexistence of humans and animals in the residential environment.
- The care of stray animals by creating programs and actions for feeding, sterilization, adoption, hospitality and protection from abuse.
- The provision of veterinary assistance and care to injured, sick stray animals.
- Cooperation with the Municipal Authorities with the aim of resolving issues concerning the care and protection of stray animals.
- Communication and information – raising awareness about the problems and needs of animals.
- Promoting animal welfare and volunteerism by organizing training programs, events and information seminars, groups against animal abuse, actions and initiatives to facilitate citizens in the level of coexistence with stray and non-stray animals.
- Cooperation with the Municipal Authorities to inform residents regarding animal welfare legislation.
- Cooperation and synergy with other animal welfare associations, for the selection of common goals.
